inside the florence cathedral

To continue with the little Italian beauty from yesterday, I’ll walk everyone through the inside of the Florence Cathedral today. Once inside the huge space, I was surprised by the lack of pews or anything in the center of the church. It was just one massive area in which people can walk through and possibly sit along the very edges next to the walls. The interior is quite dark, but there are many art pieces and architectural features inside to catch your eye. Besides the dome, the incredible vaulted ceiling in the nave space is lovely. It joins the area between the columns perfectly. Though the cathedral overall can seem a bit simple, the incredible scale and compilation of structural components really is overwhelming.
